Eastern Allamakee Community Schools Snow Day Plans

Days cancelled due to inclement weather can now be utilized to engage in flexible learning experiences which allow students to practice skills and engage in content/curriculum with their teachers' guidance. Students and staff will be expected to participate in the learning activities when the district is closed. 



Snow Day Plan for Middle and High School Students


Teachers will connect with students via Zoom or Google Meet at the following times.

TEACHERS WILL:

  • Before the first flexible learning day:

    • Teachers will communicate with students about accessing their Zoom or Google Meet link and the needed materials for the flexible learning day.

  • The day of: 

    • Provide a Zoom or Google Meet link to students so students can communicate with teachers during the beginning of each class to receive directions, a mini-lesson and/or instructional support.

    • Prepare their lesson/activity and post to Google Classroom by 9:00.

    • Be available from 9:00 - 12:00 to provide instruction, answer questions, and give support. From the hours of 12:30 - 3:30, students can ask questions via their teachers’ email. 


  • Teachers will be available to answer questions and give feedback during these “office hours”.

  • Special Education Teachers will communicate with their students to:

    • Support, reteach, or assist with homework.

    • Set up their own Zoom or Google Meet time if needed. 

STUDENTS WILL:

  • The day before: 

    • Be responsible for bringing home the needed supplies.

  • The day of:

    • Attend the scheduled Zoom or Google Meet meeting.

    • Complete all assignments/projects.

    • Reach out to their teachers with questions or concerns. 

NOTE: If the student doesn’t have internet access, he/she will be responsible for obtaining and completing the instructional materials the next in-person school day. 

FAMILIES WILL:

  • Offer support, guidance, and monitor student progress.

  • Contact the respective teacher or school  with any questions or concerns.
