Code No.  504.8 STUDENT INSURANCE

 

An all-student insurance program may be offered to the parents of students in the district.  The Board of Directors upon recommendation of the superintendent shall select an insurance company to issue such policies for all schools in the district.

 

The purchase of student insurance shall be voluntary with the entire cost being paid by the student or parents.

 

The Board of Directors strongly recommends that a student participating in interscholastic athletics or cheerleading be adequately insured.  A policy from an insurance company determined by the superintendent or a designee may be obtained through the school.

 

If a parent wishes his/her child to participate without insurance, he/she must submit a written statement accepting full responsibility for all accidents and related costs for injuries.
